Privacy and Terms of Use

Oracle Education Foundation (Foundation) provides the following privacy policy (policy) to help you understand the collection and use of your personal information, as defined below. This policy applies to your use of the website accessible via www.oraclefoundation.org (site) and to any information you choose to provide to the Foundation via email or offline.

How we collect and use information

Personal information

The Foundation does not collect personal information via the site, but we may receive personal information that you may provide to us via email, our social media accounts, or offline for purposes of: (a) receiving information from us about upcoming events including information on volunteering opportunities; (b) participating in activities sponsored by the Foundation as a volunteer or as a participant; or (c) applying for institutional grants offered by the Foundation. Personal information may include, but is not limited to, name, physical address, email address, telephone number, emergency contact information, and business or school contact information (personal information).

The Foundation may collect personal information from volunteers as legally required or permitted in connection with a background check for volunteers involved in an activity with students who are minor children. Any personal information submitted for the purposes of the background check will only be used for the background check and only retained as long as needed to process the background check. The results of the background check will only be provided to the participating school or organization.

Usage data and cookies

This site uses only required and functional cookies to track your activity in order to optimize site performance and functionality. The site does not use advertising cookies. Cookies are small pieces of data that a website sends to a web browser. Cookies allow this site to collect certain information during your visit. The information collected may include, but is not limited to, the URL from which you accessed this site, as well as information about your web browser or device type, operating system, user-agent string, and IP address (usage data). This information enables us to determine where users are coming from and which parts of our site they are using. We collect usage data in order to measure the site’s performance and to improve the site’s design, functionality, and security.

Disclosure and use of personal information

The Foundation, its donor/parent corporation Oracle, subsidiaries, and partners will only share your personal information for the purposes below. We may disclose your personal information:

  • to employees of Oracle America, Inc., and/or its subsidiaries for the purpose of operating the Foundation;
  • to educational organizations, such as high schools and universities, which collaborate with the Foundation pursuant to written contracts and which are required to uphold and maintain the Foundation's policies with respect to privacy and the treatment of your personal information;
  • to third parties who provide services to the Foundation such as analytic, website management, email delivery, legal, and other similar services; and/or
  • to law enforcement personnel and agencies, or as part of a legal process, in order to protect our property or in furtherance of an investigation regarding a breach of the site rules and policies, unauthorized access to or use of the site, or any other prohibited activities.

In the event of a donation, merger, liquidation, dissolution, or transfer of all or substantially all of the assets of the Foundation, personal information and/or usage data submitted by you via this site may be assigned or transferred to the party acquiring all or substantially all of the equity and/or assets of the Foundation in order to permit the party to continue the operation of the site.

The Foundation does not share personal information with third parties for commercial purposes.

Opt out and deletion rights

In the event you have provided the Foundation with your personal information, you can exercise your privacy rights in accordance with applicable laws as specified below.

  • Opt out of our use or sharing of your personal information
    You may withdraw consent you have previously provided for the processing of information about you. Please note that the Foundation does not share your personal information for commercial purposes.
  • Delete personal information
    You can ask us to erase or delete all or some of the information about you.
  • Change or correct personal information
    You can edit some of the information about you by emailing us at foundation_ww@oracle.com. You can also ask us to change, update, or fix information about you in certain cases, particularly if it is inaccurate.
  • Right to access and/or have your personal information provided to you
    You can also ask us for a copy of information about you and can ask for a copy of your personal information provided in machine-readable form if you reside in California or other jurisdiction that provides you this right as a matter of law.
  • If you are authorized to make an access or deletion request on behalf of a data subject, please reach out to us via email at foundation_ww@oracle.com and indicate that you are an authorized agent. We will provide you with instructions on how to submit a request as an authorized agent on behalf of a data subject.

Retention

This policy applies only to www.oraclefoundation.org. This site may include links to certain affiliated sites, and to other educational resources and nonprofit websites, including access to content, products, and services of such affiliated and nonaffiliated sites (other sites). When you click on a link to these other sites, you will leave this site. Prior to accessing other sites or non-Foundation content via this site, we urge you to familiarize yourself with the individual privacy and other terms for each linked or framed site prior to submitting any personally identifiable information.

Other websites

The Foundation will retain your personal information for as long as needed for the purposes outlined in this policy or at the time of collection; as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements; or to the extent permitted by law.

Security

The Foundation takes seriously the security of the personal information it collects. The Foundation has therefore implemented technology, security policies, and procedures designed to reduce the risk of accidental destruction or loss, or the unauthorized disclosure or access to, such information, reasonably appropriate to the nature of the data concerned.

Updates to privacy policy

The Foundation may, in its sole discretion, update this policy at any time and from time to time, by posting the amended policy on this site. The amended policy shall be effective upon posting. This privacy policy was last updated on November 22, 2021.
